Installation Services

Here at James Wilding Joinery we are able to supply and install our bespoke joinery. Whether it’s fitting a kitchen or installing a house full of replacement windows and doors. Please let us know at quotation stage if you would like us to include an option for installation, we can discuss this and provide a cost based on your requirements.

When you install new windows and doors, you are required to make sure that the replacements comply with current thermal performance standards and Building Regulations. We are pleased to be able to offer a fully comprehensive installation service as we are a FENSA registered company.

What is FENSA?

FENSA is a government-authorised scheme that monitors building regulation compliance for replacement windows and doors. Each FENSA Approved Installer, is assessed regularly to ensure its compliance to building regulations is continually maintained.

What FENSA does

FENSA’s mission is to improve window and door replacements across the UK, by professionalising installers and protecting homeowners.

They make sure the work complies with building regulations, is energy efficient, and registered with the local council, along with verifying that every FENSA Approved Installer’s guarantee is insured.

Certified Compliance

After the work is complete, you will be given a certificate to prove that the work complies with building regulations. You should keep this certificate safe as you will require this if you decide to sell your property. If you lose the certificate, it is possible to re-order another via the FENSA website.

N

What’s covered?

FENSA covers the replacement of external windows, doors, roof windows and roof lights. Please note that the property must be cited on its original footprint, and the use and size of rooms mustn’t be altered.

M

What’s not covered?

FENSA doesn’t cover replacement windows and doors for conservatories, porches, new builds, extensions, repairs (frame not included) and commercial properties.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY FENSA CERTIFICATE?

You will receive your FENSA certificate through the post a couple weeks after your install has been completed. Proof of a job done right.

Why you should always ask for a FENSA certificate

A FENSA certificate isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a need-to-have. The certification means you’re working with a professional company that will meet two legal requirements and provide you with an important level of protection.

A FENSA certificate is your assurance that the installer who fitted your windows or doors has complied with Building Regulations. It also means that your installation(s) will have been registered with the Local Council. These are legal requirements and proof of them is essential when selling your home.

In addition, FENSA certificates issued after 6 June, 2014 verify that the installer’s warranty is insured. Reassuring to know if anything goes wrong, and the business gets into trouble.

So remember: you’re not just asking for a FENSA certificate. You’re asking if that window or door installer you’re thinking about using is professional, will comply with Building Regs, register your installation, and offer an insured installation warranty.
