Bespoke Joinery Installation Services in Yorkshire

Professional Timber Window & Door Installation

At James Wilding Joinery, we provide a complete design, manufacture and installation service for our bespoke timber windows, doors and joinery, allowing each stage of the project to be carefully managed by our own team.

Our experienced joiners understand how each piece has been designed and manufactured, helping us approach installation with the same attention to detail given to the joinery in our Rylstone workshop.

We install our bespoke timber windows and doors in traditional, heritage and contemporary properties throughout Yorkshire and surrounding areas, with each installation considered around the individual building and requirements of the project.

Made by Us. Installed by Us.

Because we manufacture our bespoke joinery in our own Yorkshire workshop, our installation team has a detailed understanding of the windows and doors they are fitting.

Rather than separating manufacture from installation, we can manage the process from initial survey and final measurements through to manufacture, finishing and fitting. This continuity is particularly valuable when working with older properties, existing openings and bespoke architectural details where careful consideration may be required on site.

Where installation forms part of the project, our team works carefully within the property, with attention given to the fit, operation, finish and surrounding fabric of the building.

Our Installation Process

Every installation begins before our team arrives on site. From the initial survey and final measurements through to manufacture, finishing and fitting, each stage is carefully planned around the joinery and the individual property.

Initial Survey

Every installation project begins with a site survey, allowing us to take measurements, assess the existing openings and discuss the practical and architectural requirements of the project.

Manufacture

Your bespoke timber windows, doors or joinery are made to order in our workshop in Rylstone, near Skipton, combining traditional joinery skills with modern manufacturing techniques.

Factory Finishing

Where specified, the joinery is professionally factory finished before leaving our workshop, with coatings, colours and finishes selected according to the requirements of the project.

Professional Installation

Where existing joinery is being replaced, our team carefully removes the existing windows or doors before installing the new bespoke joinery, with consideration given to the existing openings and surrounding fabric of the property.

Final Inspection

Following installation, the completed joinery is checked for fit, operation and finish, with any final adjustments carried out where required.

FENSA Registered Installers

James Wilding Joinery is a FENSA Approved Installer, allowing us to register qualifying replacement window and door installations with FENSA in accordance with the relevant Building Regulations.

For work that falls within the scope of the FENSA scheme, the completed installation is registered and a FENSA certificate is issued as evidence that the installation complies with the relevant Building Regulations and has been registered with the local council.

Not every project falls within the scope of FENSA. New builds, new extensions, commercial properties and certain other types of work are outside the scheme and may require a different route for Building Regulations approval.

Listed buildings, conservation areas and other heritage properties may also be subject to planning or consent requirements in addition to Building Regulations. Where relevant, these requirements should be established with the appropriate authority as part of the wider project planning.

Installation Throughout Yorkshire & Surrounding Areas

From our workshop in Rylstone, near Skipton, we provide installation for our bespoke timber windows, doors and joinery throughout Yorkshire and surrounding areas of Lancashire and Cumbria.

Our work takes us across the Yorkshire Dales, Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Wensleydale, Craven and the Ribble Valley, as well as towns, villages and rural communities throughout the wider region.

Whether working with a period cottage, listed property, rural farmhouse, renovation or contemporary home, our installation approach is considered around the joinery and individual requirements of the building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install the windows and doors you manufacture?

Yes. Where installation forms part of the project, our team can provide a complete design, manufacture and installation service for the bespoke timber windows and doors we manufacture.

Are you FENSA registered?

Yes. James Wilding Joinery is a FENSA Approved Installer, allowing us to register qualifying replacement window and door installations through the FENSA scheme.

Will I receive a FENSA certificate?

Where your replacement window or door installation falls within the scope of the FENSA scheme, the completed work can be registered and a FENSA certificate issued. Some projects, including new builds and new extensions, fall outside FENSA’s scope and may require a different route for Building Regulations approval.

Can you install windows and doors in listed buildings?

Yes. We work with traditional, heritage and listed properties where bespoke timber windows and doors may need to respond carefully to the building’s existing architecture and detailing. Listed Building Consent, planning permission or other approvals may be required depending on the property and proposed work, and these should be established with the relevant Local Planning Authority where appropriate.

Do you remove my existing windows and doors?

Where replacement forms part of the agreed installation work, our team can carefully remove the existing windows and doors before fitting the new bespoke joinery, with consideration given to the surrounding openings and property.

How long does installation usually take?

Installation times vary according to the size and complexity of the project, the number and type of windows or doors being fitted and the existing openings and property. We can discuss the anticipated installation programme with you as part of the project planning.

Where do you carry out installations?

We provide installation throughout Yorkshire and surrounding areas of Lancashire and Cumbria, including the Yorkshire Dales, Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Wensleydale, Craven and the Ribble Valley. Visit our Locations page to explore the areas we regularly work across.

Do you only install products manufactured by James Wilding Joinery?

Our installation service is provided for the bespoke timber windows, doors and joinery we manufacture ourselves. This allows our team to understand the design, specification and detailing of the joinery before it arrives on site.

Does FENSA cover every window and door installation?

No. FENSA applies to qualifying replacement windows and doors in residential properties and does not cover every type of project. New builds, new extensions, commercial properties and certain other work fall outside the scope of the scheme and may require a different route for Building Regulations approval.
