James Wilding Joinery is a family-run bespoke joinery company based in Rylstone, near Skipton. From our Yorkshire workshop, we design and manufacture bespoke timber windows, doors, staircases, handmade kitchens and fitted furniture for traditional, heritage and contemporary properties.

Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing precision, our experienced team works with homeowners, architects, builders and trade professionals throughout Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

Our Story

James Wilding Joinery was founded from a passion for traditional craftsmanship, considered design and genuinely bespoke joinery. After developing his skills with a respected local joinery company, James established his own workshop with a clear ambition: to design and manufacture high-quality timber joinery tailored to the individual property and project.

From a small workshop in Gargrave, James and his wife Emily have grown the business into the dedicated team and workshop it is today, based in Rylstone, near Skipton.

Working alongside a skilled team of joiners, we now design, manufacture and install bespoke timber windows and doors, heritage joinery, staircases, handmade kitchens and fitted furniture for homeowners, architects, builders and trade professionals.

While the business has grown, it remains family-run, with the same emphasis on craftsmanship, quality, integrity and personal service that shaped James Wilding Joinery from the beginning.

Today, James Wilding Joinery is a FENSA Registered Installer, an Accoya® Approved Manufacturer and a member of the British Woodworking Federation, supporting our commitment to professional standards and carefully manufactured bespoke joinery.

Why Choose James Wilding Joinery?

Every project begins with understanding the property, the requirements of the customer and the details that will shape the finished joinery.

From timber selection and proportions to glazing, architectural detailing, ironmongery and factory finishes, each specification is individually developed around the project.

Working from our Rylstone workshop, our team combines traditional joinery skills with modern manufacturing precision, with close attention given to the design, manufacture and finish of each piece.

This considered approach allows us to develop bespoke joinery around the architecture, practical requirements and individual character of each property.

Our Craftsmanship

Every piece of bespoke joinery is manufactured in our Yorkshire workshop, where traditional joinery skills are combined with modern machinery and manufacturing techniques.

From the careful selection of timber through to machining, assembly, glazing and factory finishing, each stage is managed by our experienced team with close attention to proportions, detailing and finish.

For traditional and heritage properties, existing joinery and architectural details can be carefully considered when developing new windows and doors, including glazing layouts, mouldings, glazing bars and other period features where appropriate.

For contemporary projects, the same approach to materials and craftsmanship can be applied to cleaner profiles, generous glazing and more modern architectural detailing.

Whether we are manufacturing a single bespoke entrance door or joinery for a larger renovation or building project, every commission is individually considered and made to order.

Our Commitment

Our approach extends beyond the manufacture of bespoke joinery. From the first conversation through to manufacture and, where required, installation, we aim to provide knowledgeable advice, clear communication and a personal service throughout each project.

We are also committed to supporting the future of our craft. Working with Craven College in Skipton, we support the training and development of apprentices, helping the next generation of joiners develop the practical skills and craftsmanship required within the industry.

As a family-run Yorkshire business, we value the relationships we build with homeowners, architects, builders and trade professionals, and take pride in approaching every project with care and attention to detail.
